FAQ:Hair Care

Question by Brittany: My dog has really bad dandruff…is there a good organic shampoo out there? His skin is really sensitive and nothing I try has seemed to work. We live in NC and his owners before us used to keep him outside. I bathe him once every week…is this too much? His skin is also really red. He itches himself a ton! I feel so bad for the guy. I’m going to take him to the vet on the 16th but is there anything I can do to relieve his pain and irritation in the meantime? Gerald…the reason why he has to wait three weeks is because the vet is booked up. I explained the situation to the lady who made the appointments and she said it didn’t sound that serious to her. Also, my dog likes to bite people that he doesn’t know all that well. He is comfortable with this vet and I don’t want to put him through the mental strain of going to a place that he his unfamiliar with. He has a bad past and he hates meeting new people. I’m also nervous about him being around kids that might be in the office…even with a muzzle. I’m trying to make sure he doesn’t endanger other people and that I don’t damage his psyche any farther than it is already damaged…it’s called being responsible. I’ll socialize my dog thru other ways. If you’re going to open your mouth without knowing what you are talking about first…then I’d say you’re a moron. Why would you use 99 cent Suave shampoo on a dog? That’s like animal cruelty….dog shampoos are made for a reason Sorry about my outburst but I hate it when you ask a sincere question and you get treated like you are a horrible person. People need to check their attitudes and realize that this isn’t a debating web site. People come here for advice…not to pick a fight.

Thank you to everybody who has responded. I will definitely take a look at the ingredients in his food and slowly switch over to a better brand. Thanks for all of your help! I really appreciate it.
