Q&A: is it true that petroleum based products are bad for your skin?
Question by scrilliys: is it true that petroleum based products are bad for your skin? Petroleum products such as mineral oil are commonly found in many products such as lip balms and nearly all products for dry skin. Petroleum based products are bad for your skin because it tricks the body into thinking that the skin is moisturized. This in turn stops the body from producing natural body oils.
After the product has worn off the skin becomes dryer and more irritable. Your skin will cease to moisturize itself naturally and depend on external products to keep it hydrated. Petroleum products are popular with manufacturers because they are cheap. So, beware of this ingredient in selecting the right moisturizer for your skin. -got this from www.haba.com i’m not sure whether its marketing gimmick or its true
Really good, inexpensive natural/organic skin care and hair care?
Question by PianoTeacherKim: Really good, inexpensive natural/organic skin care and hair care? I am trying to move toward a more organic lifestyle for my family and my 10-month-old baby. I’m having trouble finding good, natural skin and hair care that doesn’t cost a fortune! I don’t have $ 30 for a bottle of face lotion or $ 25 for a bottle of shampoo, as much as I would like to be able to spend that.
I’m in my late 30s and dealing with aging, still acne-prone skin, and have curly fine hair. The natural products I have tried – just from a trip to the very-limited natural foods store we have in our small town – just don’t work well for me. I know there’s a transition, but red skin and products that make my curly hair flat and take the curl out really don’t work for me.
Can anyone give me recommendations on great products that work well for you? Thanks so much!
Should we use natural organic products 4 EVERYTHING? skin, cleaning, etc. Organic shampoo leaves my hair oily!
Question by gaga_chick: Should we use natural organic products 4 EVERYTHING? skin, cleaning, etc. Organic shampoo leaves my hair oily! Regular shampoo- I go at least a full day w/regular “fresh” hair, shall we say. I used organic shampoo late last night and this morning I had such a horrible itchiness in my hair that I had to shower instantly! What is going on? And do all products have so many toxins and chemicals that we should evolve completely into an all-out organic revolution? Thanks.
