Q&A: What is the scientific definition of “organic products”?
Question by Leon Wu: What is the scientific definition of “organic products”? In supermarkets and general stores, there are a lot of items labeled “organic” (e.g. organic pears, organic squash, even organic dish soap). I am wondering do any if not all of these labels really have a scientific meaning behind it or is the word “organic” just added to make the product seem nicer?
Friends have told me “organic products” are items not treated with chemicals; but in a chemistry sense, is there a set definition of “organic?”
Any source references that can clear it up would also be great. Thanks in advance. As well, there are products labeled “natural” and “chemical”; do any of those labels have any meaning?
Feedback on All Natural Cosmetic/Beauty Products?
Question by Heather: Feedback on All Natural Cosmetic/Beauty Products? Since having a baby in 2005, I have become keenly aware of all the unnecessary chemical exposure we have in the normal course of our lives. I have made many changes to my family’s diet, methods for cleaning, laundering, etc. One area that is of particular interest to me is moving toward all natural cosmetic solutions. I have found several things that work well for me and I am considering trying to make and sell a small line of natural bath and beauty products.
I’d like to know before investing significant time and money how many people are out there that are also interested in this and would want to try my products. Most of the things I use on myself and my child are comprised of essential oils in a base as well as mixed with edible household ingredients for cosmetic/beauty purposes (hair and skin cleansing and moisture, makeup remover, skin exfoliation, bath perfumes/soaks).
Who else is interest in this kind of alternative to standard bath/beauty solutions? Feedback appreciated.

Q&A: What Essential oils or natural products to rub on cats to help them get along?
Question by qcdon30: What Essential oils or natural products to rub on cats to help them get along? Cats live in the world of scent.. I was told that if I “perfumed” all the cats with the same scent it would help them get along. We have had these cats for over a year and one cat fights all the others. Does anyone know of a “safe” “natural” scented oil or perfume or cologne I could use to make them all smell the same to hopefully get them to start to get along better? one that is safe for them to ingest cause they will lick it off them selves eventually I know that they may never get along but I would like to at least try some other things before I call it quits and give up.

Q&A: is it true that petroleum based products are bad for your skin?
Question by scrilliys: is it true that petroleum based products are bad for your skin? Petroleum products such as mineral oil are commonly found in many products such as lip balms and nearly all products for dry skin. Petroleum based products are bad for your skin because it tricks the body into thinking that the skin is moisturized. This in turn stops the body from producing natural body oils.
After the product has worn off the skin becomes dryer and more irritable. Your skin will cease to moisturize itself naturally and depend on external products to keep it hydrated. Petroleum products are popular with manufacturers because they are cheap. So, beware of this ingredient in selecting the right moisturizer for your skin. -got this from www.haba.com i’m not sure whether its marketing gimmick or its true
